Khaleel qualified at Wits in 1994 and subsequently specialised in Surgery obtaining his Fellowship of the College of Surgeons in 2000 with specialist qualification in Otorhinolaryngology (ORL).

He practices as an Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon with a special interest in Sleep Disorders particularly Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA).
